Manipurs CM Yumkham Khemchand Singh emphasizes action against armed groups involved in violence during a high-level security meeting.

Imphal, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Manipur’s Chief Minister Yumkham Khemchand Singh convened a high-level security coordination meeting on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal. The gathering aimed to thoroughly assess the current law and order situation in the state and discuss measures to bolster security.
According to a press release from the Chief Minister’s office, Singh directed security officials to identify armed groups suspected of involvement in recent violence. He emphasized that groups engaged in peace talks should be excluded from this identification process. The Chief Minister instructed security agencies to submit a detailed report on the involvement of these groups as soon as possible.
Singh stated firmly that if evidence links these groups to violence against innocent civilians, the state cabinet would be compelled to consider declaring them illegal. He reiterated that any group continuing to perpetrate violence against the public would face necessary actions, including strict measures under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
This meeting took place against the backdrop of sporadic violent incidents in Manipur over the past few days. The government believes certain armed factions are attempting to disrupt the peace process and is now preparing decisive action against these groups.
Key figures in attendance included Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Chief Secretary Rajiv Singh Thakur, Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh, Manipur’s DGP Mukesh Singh, and GOC 3 Corps Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, who participated via video conference.
