Police Capture Notorious Criminals After Gunfight in Bahraich

Bahraich, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant operation against organized crime, Bahraich police apprehended two notorious criminals following a gunfight on Monday night. Both suspects sustained injuries from police gunfire and have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities revealed that the individuals have extensive criminal records.

The first encounter took place near Khaira Bazaar in the Bouni area. The police received a tip-off about Jabir, a wanted criminal, and his accomplice Naseem, who were allegedly planning a major crime. Upon realizing they were surrounded, the duo opened fire on the police. In the ensuing exchange, Jabir, also known as Zakir, was shot and injured, while Naseem managed to escape in a vehicle.

Following Jabir’s arrest, police initiated a manhunt for Naseem. They soon learned that the vehicle the suspects were using was headed towards Nepal via Nanpara. The Nanpara police pursued the car but were met with gunfire from Naseem, who shot at them as they approached a deserted area. In the return fire, Naseem was shot in the leg and subsequently taken into custody.

According to Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava, a combing operation was underway in Bahraich when the encounters occurred. Around 10 PM, police received information about a suspect who had fled from Khaireeghat earlier that day, leading to the confrontation. Jabir was injured during the exchange, while Naseem fled in a vehicle that matched the description of one reported earlier.

The police have recovered cash and gold and silver jewelry from the arrested criminals. Both suspects are believed to be part of a gang responsible for numerous thefts across various districts in the state, with Naseem facing 24 criminal cases against him.

The police continue to investigate the gang’s activities and are on high alert for any further criminal actions in the area.
