
Jamnagar, May 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jamnagar on Sunday evening, where he was greeted with a grand welcome by crowds gathered along the streets and at the ‘Lal Bangla’. He later participated in a public gathering attended by people from various communities and states.
State Minister Rivaba Jadeja and senior BJP leaders, including Arjun Modhwadia, were also present at the event.
Hours before PM Modi’s arrival, a large crowd had already gathered, many of whom were Bengali families residing in Jamnagar. As his convoy reached the venue, people waved flags, chanted patriotic slogans, and welcomed the Prime Minister with thunderous applause.
The atmosphere around Lal Bangla Circle and the gathering site was vibrant, filled with traditional attire, cultural performances, and chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.
Residents originally from West Bengal expressed their eagerness to welcome PM Modi following the BJP’s electoral victory in their home state. They also voiced hopes for similar development in West Bengal.
Sanjeev Chatterjee, a lawyer born and raised in Jamnagar, shared his observations of Gujarat’s growth over the past three decades. He expressed his desire for West Bengal to progress similarly, stating, “I was born in Jamnagar. I have witnessed development and progress in Gujarat over the last 30 years. I want the same for West Bengal.” He added that people in Bengal want development at the same pace.
Dolly Mukherjee mentioned that Bengali residents in Jamnagar are pleased with the Prime Minister’s visit. She said, “We also want women’s safety and education in Bengal, just like in Gujarat.”
Sushil Rai noted that people were eagerly waiting on the streets to welcome the Prime Minister. “We are all very happy that PM Modi is coming. Jamnagar is fully decorated for his visit,” he said.
Avery Halder, who has lived in Gujarat for 15 years and in Jamnagar for a decade, shared that it was her first time seeing PM Modi up close. She remarked on the pride and joy felt by all Bengalis following the BJP’s victory in their state. “I hope West Bengal develops like Gujarat,” she added, mentioning that she had created a pencil sketch of the Prime Minister before his arrival.
In addition to residents from West Bengal, citizens from Punjab and other states, along with community leaders, youth, women, and the elderly from Jamnagar, also attended the gathering to welcome the Prime Minister. Organizers described the large turnout as a symbol of the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
