New Delhi, May 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the newly appointed full-time members of NITI Aayog. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, he extended his best wishes to Dr. R. Balasubramanian and Dr. Zoram Aniya on their appointments.
PM Modi stated, “Heartfelt congratulations to Dr. R. Balasubramanian and Dr. Zoram Aniya on their appointment as full-time members of NITI Aayog. Their extensive experience and deep understanding of various issues will significantly strengthen policy-making. I am confident that their contributions will foster innovation and development across different sectors. I wish them a highly successful and impactful tenure ahead.”
It is noteworthy that a notification released on Saturday confirmed Prime Minister Modi’s approval of Zoram Aniya’s appointment as a full-time member of NITI Aayog. This marks a historic milestone, bringing a prominent intellectual voice from Arunachal Pradesh to the highest level of national policy-making. Aniya, a skilled academic and associate professor, is also a member of the Arunachal Pradesh Private Education Regulatory Commission. With over 18 years of experience in teaching, research, and public policy, Aniya has made significant contributions to education and knowledge systems in the region.
She holds the distinction of being the first woman from the Nishii community to earn a PhD and is the first woman from Arunachal Pradesh to obtain a PhD in Hindi. Her scholarly work spans literature, culture, and indigenous knowledge systems. Aniya has authored and edited several books on the Nishii language and cultural heritage, along with numerous research publications.
The other appointed member, Dr. R. Balasubramanian, is a member of the Capacity Building Commission. He has been closely associated with the ‘Mission Karmayogi’ initiative, which aims to digitally train India’s civil services. He is also the author of the book ‘Power Within: The Leadership Legacy of Narendra Modi’ and played a crucial role in developing the ‘Karmayogi Capability Framework,’ which guides capacity-building in government training institutions.
His appointment comes just days after the central government designated Ashok Lahiri as the Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, alongside the inclusion of two full-time members. Earlier in April, Lahiri met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi the day after taking office.
