PM Modi Condemns Attacks on UAE, Expresses Solidarity in Call with President

New Delhi, March 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Sunday. He strongly condemned the recent attacks on the Gulf nation and expressed India’s solidarity during these challenging times.

In a post on the social media platform X, PM Modi stated, “I spoke with the President of the UAE, my brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I condemned the attacks on the UAE and expressed my condolences for the loss of life. During these difficult times, India stands united with the UAE.”

He also expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership for their care of the large Indian community residing there. PM Modi added, “Thank you for looking after the Indian community in the UAE. We support efforts to reduce tensions and promote regional peace, security, and stability.”

India and the UAE share strong strategic and economic ties. The two countries maintain close partnerships in trade, energy, defense, counter-terrorism, and issues related to the Indian diaspora. The UAE is home to one of the largest Indian expatriate communities, which strengthens people-to-people relations between the two nations.

Meanwhile, PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in the national capital on Sunday evening. According to government sources, this meeting was convened in light of the rapidly deteriorating geopolitical situation in West Asia.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of airstrikes by the US and Israel on Iran, which have escalated regional tensions. Reports also mention the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, raising concerns about a broader conflict.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri were present at the meeting.

Sources indicate that PM Modi returned to Delhi around 9:30 PM after a two-day visit to Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, and immediately chaired the CCS meeting.

The CCS is the highest decision-making body in the country for security and strategic matters, comprising the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Defense, Home, External Affairs, and Finance.
