Over 9 crore farmers across India are eagerly awaiting the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana, the government’s flagship income support scheme. As per recent media reports, the ₹2,000 installment is expected to be released on June 20, 2025, although an official confirmation is still awaited.

This financial assistance, provided through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), has become crucial for small and marginal farmers, especially during the sowing season. However, this time, the government has implemented stricter eligibility and verification norms. Without completing these, farmers may not receive the upcoming installment.

What Is the PM-KISAN Scheme?

Launched in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme provides ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. It is targeted at farmers with landholdings of up to 2 hectares and is disbursed every four months:

  • 1st installment: April to July

  • 2nd installment: August to November

  • 3rd installment: December to March

The 20th installment, based on this cycle, falls due between June and July 2025.

Mandatory Requirements to Receive the 20th Installment

To ensure you receive the next ₹2,000 installment without delay, the following steps must be completed:

eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer)

eKYC is now mandatory. Without it, your name may be removed from the beneficiary list.

How to do eKYC online:

  1. Visit the official website: https://pmkisan.gov.in

  2. Go to ‘Farmers Corner’ and click on ‘e-KYC’

  3. Enter your Aadhaar number and verify with the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number

  4. Submit to complete the process

Land Record Verification

Your land ownership documents (such as Khatauni or Gata number) must be verified either online or through your local Common Service Centre (CSC). This is to ensure that only genuine landholding farmers benefit from the scheme.

NPCI Account Linking

Your bank account must be NPCI-enabled for receiving DBT payments. This means your Aadhaar should be linked to your bank account, and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) mapping must be completed.

Farmer Registry Enrollment

Farmers must be registered in the national Farmer Registry. You can complete this via:

Steps for registration:

  1. Visit the registry site

  2. Enter your mobile number and Aadhaar number, then verify with OTP

  3. Provide land and bank account details

  4. Submit to receive your registry number

Required Documents for Verification

Ensure the following documents are up to date and available:

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Aadhaar-linked mobile number

  • Land ownership proof (Khatauni, Gata number)

  • Bank passbook or account details

How to Check If Your Name Is in the Beneficiary List

To verify if your installment will be credited:

  1. Visit https://pmkisan.gov.in

  2. Click on ‘Farmer Corner’ → ‘Beneficiary List’

  3. Select State → District → Block → Village

  4. Click on ‘Get Report’ to view the list of eligible beneficiaries
