Mumbai, March 21: The 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off on March 28. The opening match will feature the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Here’s a look at players who have played the most matches without ever winning the IPL trophy.

AB de Villiers: Known for his numerous records in IPL history, AB de Villiers has played 184 matches but has never been part of a championship team. He played for both Delhi and RCB but never reached the final.

Sanju Samson: Playing for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026, Sanju Samson is among the unlucky players who have never won a final. He has participated in 177 matches without a title.

Yuzvendra Chahal: With 174 matches under his belt, Yuzvendra Chahal has also never won a final. He was part of the Punjab Kings team that reached the finals in IPL 2025 but faced defeat.

Amit Mishra: The only bowler to take three hat-tricks in IPL, Amit Mishra has played 162 matches but has yet to be on a championship team. Throughout his career, he has played for several major teams without winning a final.

Axar Patel: Despite playing 162 matches in the IPL, Axar Patel has never been part of a winning final team. He captained the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025.
