Governor Anandiben Patel honored over 5,100 girls in Lucknow, promoting cultural values during the Navratri celebrations.

Lucknow, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : On October 17, over 5,100 girls were honored at Jan Bhawan in Lucknow as part of the Sharadiya Navratri celebrations. Governor Anandiben Patel led the ceremony, offering prayers and meals to the young girls, along with gifts of chunari and cash. She encouraged the children to nurture their talents, adopt good values, and serve their families and the nation.
The event featured cultural performances that conveyed messages of Indian culture and human values. Organized by the organization ‘Prerna,’ the program included a dance-drama based on Goddess Durga and heartfelt presentations of bhajans such as “Maine Tere Hi Bharose.” Students from the Adarsh Secondary School performed the song “Manushya Tu Bada Mahan Hai,” highlighting the importance of life and human values.
Governor Patel praised the children’s performances and commended the teachers, trainers, and members of the organizing body for their efforts. She emphasized that education should be complemented by cultural, creative, and sports activities to foster children’s inherent talents and skills. Such initiatives help instill a sense of belonging to their institution and families.
She noted that many students at Adarsh Secondary School come from families facing various challenges. It is our collective responsibility to provide them with opportunities, nourishment, and a positive environment. Children should have access to an atmosphere conducive to learning and personal growth. The governor stressed the need for more such events at Jan Bhawan.
Patel highlighted the significance of the spacious and green Jan Bhawan grounds for creative activities and learning. Cultural programs are held here on Independence Day, Republic Day, and during various festivals. Additionally, sports activities, including cricket and volleyball competitions, are organized for the children.
She also mentioned the annual flower exhibition at Jan Bhawan, which attracts over 100,000 participants, including children, women, and farmers. Outstanding performers are recognized at this event. The governor acknowledged the contributions of farmers, referring to them as the “sons of the earth,” and emphasized the importance of respecting their hard work.
Patel encouraged children to explore educational themes related to pilgrimage sites from Gangotri to Gangasagar and to write essays based on their experiences. The best essays will receive awards. She urged students to focus on their studies, strive to be good individuals, and respect and serve their parents. The governor concluded by wishing all the children a bright future and blessing them.
Indresh Kumar, a member of the All India Executive of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, remarked that the worship of girls symbolizes respect for feminine power and the high ideals of Indian culture. He highlighted that honoring women leads humanity towards divinity, while disrespect drives them towards negativity. He expressed hope that such events will continue to inspire future generations to honor women.
After the ceremony, the governor visited the Adarsh Secondary School, where she served midday meals and participated in the girls’ feast. Upon her arrival, the students welcomed her and the guests with flower garlands.
