New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian government announced on September 18 that the PM Vishwakarma Scheme has successfully registered over 3 million beneficiaries. Of these, approximately 2.45 million individuals have already received basic skills training.
According to MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, 1.81 million modern toolkits have been distributed through India Post. Additionally, 618,000 artisans have received loans up to ₹100,000 at a subsidized interest rate of 5%, amounting to a total of ₹5,297 crore in financial support.
Manjhi highlighted the achievements of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2023. The initiative aims to empower traditional artisans and craftsmen by providing skill training, modern toolkits, credit, and market support.
The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) celebrated the third anniversary of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme at the Dhanon Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata. The event underscored the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the livelihoods, skills, and entrepreneurial capabilities of traditional craftsmen.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari emphasized the importance of providing skill training and credit support to the state’s traditional artisans and craftsmen. He noted that over 700,000 applications have been received under the scheme in West Bengal and assured that the state government would expedite necessary assistance for artisans to benefit from the program.
Central Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje congratulated the beneficiaries and wished them success in their entrepreneurial journeys. She encouraged them to fully leverage the opportunities and support available under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme to become successful entrepreneurs.
Karandlaje also stressed that empowering women entrepreneurs plays a crucial role in building strong families, communities, and a prosperous ‘Developed India.’
