Over 12,000 Special Trains to Run for Bihar During Diwali and Chhath: Railway Minister

New Delhi, 20 August (Kiran News). Indian Railways has decided to operate more than 12,000 special train services to facilitate passengers during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, speaking at a press conference at Rail Bhawan, said that after discussions with Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, MP Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, Union Minister Lalan Singh, and MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, it has been decided to make special arrangements for the two major festivals. He further said that there will also be a focus on ensuring convenience for passengers during their return journey.

After consultations with senior public representatives, it has been decided to operate more than 12,000 special trains for Diwali and Chhath. Along with this, care will also be taken to facilitate the return journey for passengers.

He stated that passengers who undertake onward journeys between 13 and 26 October and return journeys between 17 November and 1 December will be eligible for a 20 percent discount on their return tickets. This scheme will be implemented during this festive season, benefiting many travelers.

In addition, four new Amrit Bharat Express trains will start from Bihar: Gaya Ji to Delhi, Saharsa to Amritsar, Chhapra to Delhi, and Muzaffarpur to Hyderabad. Besides this, a new circuit train will be launched for middle-class families, connecting important Buddhist sites such as Vaishali, Hajipur, Sonepur, Patna, Rajgir, Gaya Ji, and Koderma.

Further, the Buxar to Lakhisarai rail section will be expanded to four lines to allow more trains to operate. Arrangements will also be made for a ring railway around Patna. SultanGanj and Deoghar will be connected. A new train will be run from Patna to Ayodhya. Laukaha Bazar will get a washing pit facility, and several new road overbridges approved in Bihar will also be constructed.

Present at the event, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, MP Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, and MP Sanjay Jha expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving more projects and launching several new trains, including Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat, for Bihar.
