Opposition leader and Biju Janata Dal President Naveen Patnaik also sent his best wishes to the people.

Mahabisuba Sankranti, also known as Pana Sankranti, marks the beginning of the Odia New Year (the first day of the month of Baisakh). It signifies the end of the spring harvest and the arrival of summer.

On this occasion, special prayers are offered in temples and homes across the state. Deities are served ‘Pana,’ a traditional sweet beverage made from jaggery, wood apple, banana, coconut, and other delicious ingredients.

The people of Odisha also celebrate Hanuman Jayanti or the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman in a grand manner throughout the state. Lord Hanuman is a symbol of devotion, strength, and selfless service to Lord Rama.
