October 18 Panchang: Worship of Maa Mahagauri Promises Fulfillment of Desires

On October 18, worship Maa Mahagauri for peace and prosperity; key astrological timings include Abhijit Muhurat and Amritkaal.

New Delhi, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : The Panchang holds significant importance in Hinduism, guiding auspicious activities, travel, investments, and rituals. It is based on a lunar calendar that considers the positions of the sun, moon, and other celestial bodies.

On October 18, 2026, the eighth day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwin begins at 8:28 AM and extends until 10:52 AM the following day, when the Navami Tithi will commence. Sunrise on Sunday will occur at 6:28 AM, while sunset is expected at 5:55 PM. The moon will rise at 12:58 PM and set at 11:50 PM.

This date marks the eighth day of the Sharadiya Navratri, dedicated to the worship of Maa Mahagauri. Known for her serene and radiant form, she is often depicted in white attire, earning her the name Shwetambaradhara. Devotees believe that worshipping her eradicates sins and brings happiness, peace, and prosperity, along with the attainment of supernatural powers.

According to the Panchang, the Sun will be in the Chitra Nakshatra on this day. Astrologically, the Sun’s presence in Chitra is believed to have profound effects, enhancing self-confidence, courage, and energy. Employees may receive recognition from superiors, while those in administration and management could find new responsibilities or promotions.

Sukarma Yoga will prevail until 11:55 PM on Sunday. This auspicious period, considered the seventh of the 27 daily yogas, is believed to bring success to endeavors initiated during this time. People born under Sukarma Yoga are typically kind, generous, and optimistic.

The Abhijit Muhurat, deemed the most favorable time of the day, will occur from 11:49 AM to 12:34 PM. Activities undertaken during this period are believed to negate negative influences. This time is marked by the Sun being at its zenith.

Amritkaal, a highly favorable time, will last from 7:28 AM to 9:16 AM. It is regarded as a period filled with positive energy, ideal for new ventures, investments, and significant journeys.

However, Rahukal will take place from 4:29 PM to 5:55 PM, a time considered inauspicious for starting new ventures. Similarly, Yamagand Kal, associated with the deity of death, will be observed from 12:12 PM to 1:37 PM, discouraging the initiation of new projects or travels.

Gulik Kal, known as a ‘poisonous time’, will occur from 3:03 PM to 4:29 PM. Activities initiated during this period may yield negative outcomes, though ongoing tasks can continue.

The Sun will be in Libra on this day, a position considered weak, potentially affecting self-confidence and decision-making. The presence of Mercury and Venus alongside the Sun creates a Trigrahi Yoga, influencing various zodiac signs and financial matters.

The Moon will reside in Sagittarius until 7:33 PM before moving into Capricorn. This placement fosters positivity and resilience, helping individuals navigate challenging situations.

On this day, the direction of Dishashool will be west, a direction traditionally deemed inauspicious for travel.
