New Delhi, April 14: In a significant police operation late Monday night in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun, notorious criminal Abhay Pratap Singh, also known as Kallu, was apprehended. He was wanted with a bounty of ₹50,000. Authorities recovered a pistol, two country-made firearms, and ten cartridges from his possession.
Police officials reported that Singh was involved in the murder of DGM Sudhir Gupta and Deputy Manager Harshit Mishra at the HPCL plant. His arrest occurred in Firozabad district based on a tip-off from an informant.
The informant indicated that Singh was hiding in Firozabad. Acting on this information, the police successfully captured him. During interrogation, it was revealed that he had supplied weapons to Ajay Pratap Singh for executing the murders. Following this, police went to recover the firearms based on Singh’s directions.
Officials stated that Singh had previously evaded capture and concealed the weapons in an abandoned house. When the police team arrived at the location with Singh, he opened fire on them with a loaded firearm, injuring one constable in the process.
In response, the police returned fire, injuring Singh in the leg. He was subsequently hospitalized. The recovered items included a pistol, two country-made firearms, and ten cartridges.
Police officials praised the swift and courageous actions of the team. Badaun’s City CO Rajneesh Upadhyay remarked, “This operation reflects our commitment to controlling crime and ensuring justice. The accused posed a significant threat, and his arrest is a major success.” Singh has multiple cases registered against him, including murder, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover any associates or further crimes linked to Singh.
