Nitish Kumar to Take Oath as Rajya Sabha Member Today, Bihars Deputy CMs Arrive in New Delhi

New Delhi, April 10: Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar will take his oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha today.

Both Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Chaudhary, arrived in the national capital on Thursday and are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony. After being elected to the Rajya Sabha, Nitish Kumar resigned from the Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) on March 30.

On Thursday, Nitish Kumar confirmed his arrival in New Delhi and indicated that he would soon resign from his position as Chief Minister.

Speaking to reporters, he stated, “I will resign from my post and work here. I will submit my resignation in three to four days. New individuals will be appointed as Chief Minister and ministers.”

Accompanying Nitish Kumar were Sanjay Jha, the National Executive President of Janata Dal (United), and Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.

Earlier, Sanjay Jha hinted that the process of forming a new government in Bihar would begin after April 13. Nitish Kumar’s recent remarks have made it clear that a change in power is imminent.

Meanwhile, Bihar Minister Vijay Chaudhary mentioned that all leaders of the NDA, including those from the BJP and its allies, are united in promoting Nitish Kumar’s governance model.

He stated, “We will continue to work on the ‘Nitish model,’ under which Bihar has made significant progress over the past two decades. This legacy will guide our future path.”

After taking the oath as a Rajya Sabha member, Nitish Kumar is likely to participate in a crucial meeting in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, where the framework for forming the next government in Bihar will be discussed.

Sources indicate that top NDA leaders are finalizing the name of the next Chief Minister of Bihar and the distribution of ministerial portfolios. These decisions are expected to be made in the presence of Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, and Nitish Kumar, highlighting the meeting’s significance. Meanwhile, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha have also reached New Delhi. They are likely to attend a meeting of the BJP’s core committee, where discussions will focus on leadership and power-sharing arrangements in Bihar.

Amid ongoing political changes in Bihar, high-level discussions are taking place, especially as Nitish Kumar has signaled his intention to resign from the Chief Minister’s post immediately after entering the Rajya Sabha. These developments suggest that the NDA is swiftly taking steps to ensure a smooth leadership transition and the formation of a new government in the state.
