Nitesh Rane Opposes AR Rahman’s Appearance on Kapil Sharma’s Show

Mumbai: Musician AR Rahman faced trolling after his remarks on communal issues in Hindi cinema sparked controversy. Several personalities from political and film circles subtly opposed his statements. Recently, Rahman appeared on the popular show ‘The Great India Kapil Sharma Show’ where he clarified that his words had been distorted.

In response, Maharashtra’s Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development, Nitesh Rane, expressed strong opposition to both Kapil Sharma and AR Rahman. Rane stated that giving Rahman any public platform is wrong as it hurts India’s history and the sentiments of the Hindu community.

He opposed Rahman’s presence on the show and wrote on social media platform X, “When it comes to comedy, Kapil Sharma’s name comes first, and ‘The Great India Kapil Sharma Show’ is popular both nationally and internationally. However, due to some controversial statements by AR Rahman, the feelings of India, its history, and the Hindu society have been hurt. We strongly oppose the decision to give him such a large platform.”

Rane added, “While freedom of entertainment is acceptable, public sentiments, Hindu community feelings, and national unity should take precedence. We expect Netflix and the show’s producers to reconsider this decision and respect social sensitivity. Comedy is welcome, but India’s integrity, cultural identity, and Hindu ethos must not be compromised.”

In the recent episode, AR Rahman played a fun game with Kapil Sharma. Rahman remarked, “This game is a good example of how information or statements can be misunderstood. The world faces this problem of how messages are misinterpreted and then spread.”
