New Zealands Rachin Ravindra Out of T20 Series Against India Due to Shoulder Injury

Auckland, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : New Zealand’s young all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20 series against India due to a shoulder injury. The 24-year-old sustained the injury during a promotional shoot last week and is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.

In a press conference on Wednesday, New Zealand’s head coach Rob Walter addressed the media, stating, “He has a shoulder injury. It’s a bad accident, but it has healed quite quickly. He is feeling pretty good. We are focused on the ODI series ahead and won’t rush him back. We hope he will be available for that.”

Walter added with a hint of humor, “Rachin has a knack for finding unique ways to injure himself. Such things happen, so honestly, I don’t think too much about it.”

When asked about rescheduling promotional shoots before major games, Walter explained, “We don’t usually do promotional work the day before a Test or big match. I think the placement was fine. Odd things happen. If he slipped on the sidewalk and twisted his ankle, would I stop him from walking? It just happens. Again, I don’t want to dwell on it too much. I believe we took all necessary precautions for player safety, and we probably learned something from this, but it should stay where it is.”

In Ravindra’s absence, Bevan Jacobs has been called up to the squad. Jacobs, 24, has played 11 T20 matches, scoring 183 runs with one half-century.

Adam Milne returns to the New Zealand team for the T20 series against India, marking his first T20 appearance in over a year. He joins a formidable pace attack that includes Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy, Jack Foulkes, and Nathan Smith.

Walter expressed his admiration for Milne, stating, “What impresses me most about Adam is that whenever you see him, he has developed a new skill or improved the ones he already had. He is always striving to better himself and move forward. For a player with such extensive experience in the T20 format, having him in the squad is fantastic. He works extremely hard.”

The T20 series between New Zealand and India is set to commence on October 22. The first match will take place on the 22nd, followed by games on the 24th, 27th, 30th, and concluding on November 1.

New Zealand’s squad for the T20 series against India includes: Mitchell Santner (captain), Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Jack Foulkes, Matt Henry, Bevan Jacobs, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert, and Nathan Smith.
