Mumbai, March 28: Rupali Nilesh Chakanakar, the Women’s President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), resigned from her position on Friday. Her decision follows a series of controversies linked to the fraudulent Baba (Kharat) case that has engulfed her in recent days.
Chakanakar addressed her resignation letter to NCP’s National President and Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Supriya Pawar. In her letter, she stated, “I hereby submit my resignation from the position of President of the Nationalist Women’s Congress. Please accept it.”
She also shared a copy of her resignation on her official ‘X’ account. In her post, Chakanakar emphasized, “I clarified my position regarding the Kharat case from day one. There is no connection between his financial dealings and my conduct. My stance remains clear and firm. These matters will certainly be resolved during the investigation.”
Chakanakar further expressed, “The false and baseless allegations being made through the media without any evidence are distressing. The truth will undoubtedly come to light with full force. I have already requested the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and the Director General of Police to ensure that this investigation is conducted in a completely transparent and fair manner.”
She revealed that her decision came after a phone discussion with Supriya Pawar earlier that morning. Chakanakar confirmed that she is resigning from her role as the head of the party’s women’s wing.
Following the arrest of Kharat (the fraudulent Baba), various allegations surfaced against Chakanakar. There was significant uproar on social media and among opposition parties regarding her alleged connections with Kharat. Chakanakar has repeatedly denied these allegations, asserting that there are no financial or other ties between her and Kharat.
