NCB Busts Drug Trafficking Network in Bengaluru, Five Foreign Nationals Arrested

The Narcotics Control Bureau arrested five foreign nationals in Bengaluru linked to drug trafficking, highlighting ongoing anti-drug efforts.

Bengaluru, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has intensified its operations against drug trafficking networks in Bengaluru, aligning with the government’s goal of a drug-free India. On September 7, 2026, the NCB announced the arrests of five foreign nationals suspected of involvement in illegal drug activities.

These operations are part of the NCB’s vision for 2026-27, focusing on identifying foreign nationals illegally residing in India and their connections to drug trafficking. The Bengaluru zonal unit gathered intelligence on foreign communities suspected of engaging in such activities.

In collaboration with the Bengaluru City Police, the NCB conducted a special operation in early September 2026, targeting specific areas known for foreign residents. During this operation, five individuals from various countries were apprehended in the Krishna Rajapura and Kommanahalli neighborhoods.

Surveillance revealed that these individuals were not associated with any legitimate employment, education, or business, raising suspicions about their involvement in drug-related activities. Further investigation confirmed their identities, revealing no prior criminal records. However, since they were found to be residing in India illegally, they were handed over to the relevant authorities for deportation proceedings.

This operation also shed light on violations of the Foreigners Act of 1946, which mandates landlords to inform the police or the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 24 hours of renting to foreign tenants. Failure to comply could result in imprisonment for up to five years under Section 14 of the Act.

In addition to this recent operation, the NCB’s efforts have already resulted in the deportation of eight foreign nationals suspected of illegal residency and drug trafficking activities in 2026, including seven from Africa and one from Yemen.
