Rewa, March 29: Madhya Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister, Rajendra Shukla, emphasized the need for natural farming while addressing the damage caused by chemical pesticides to the soil. Speaking at the inauguration of a two-day national conference on innovations in science and agriculture for a developed India by 2047, he stated that agriculture is the backbone of our economy.
Currently, we are producing abundant grains, fruits, and vegetables. However, the excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides has led to the deterioration of our Mother Earth. To maintain the health of our planet and ensure a healthy life for future generations, natural farming is essential at this time.
The Deputy Chief Minister further noted that natural farming based on animal husbandry will lead to better health outcomes. He encouraged every farmer to cultivate at least ten percent of their land using natural methods to provide their families with chemical-free nutritious food. He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously motivating farmers to promote natural and organic farming. Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a natural farming project at the Basaman Mama Cow Sanctuary.
Shukla praised the efforts being made for natural farming. He stated that the biggest challenge for agricultural scientists and researchers today is to increase food production while developing varieties that maintain soil fertility, prevent soil degradation, and ensure that we all remain healthy through nutritious grains. During the ceremony, MP Janardan Mishra mentioned that, considering the projected population by 2047, it is crucial to set goals for natural farming and grain production.
