National Commission for Women Launches Dialogue Program for Youth Engagement on Womens Issues

The National Commission for Women is set to engage youth on womens issues through a dialogue program starting in Dehradun on October 30-31.

Dehradun, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : The National Commission for Women (NCW) is initiating a program to empower youth to express their views on women’s issues and propose solutions. This initiative, titled ‘Mock National Women’s Commission Advisory Committee,’ will kick off on October 30-31 at Graphic Era University in Dehradun.

Young individuals aged 18 to 30 are invited to participate. The first session will focus on the representation of women on digital entertainment platforms. Participants will discuss topics such as the portrayal of women in films, web series, and other digital content, as well as the impact these representations have on society.

NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar emphasized the importance of youth involvement in addressing women’s issues. She stated that this initiative provides a platform for young people to voice their opinions and contribute to efforts aimed at empowering women.

Rahatkar encouraged youth to engage with topics related to women’s rights, dignity, and safety, urging them to play an active role in building a better society.

A notable aspect of the program is that selected participants will have the opportunity to serve on the NCW’s Youth Advisory Committee for one year. Committee members will be able to provide suggestions to the commission on issues related to women’s safety, rights, and empowerment.

The announcement of selected members is scheduled for January 12, coinciding with National Youth Day. This program offers young people a chance to contribute to policy-making on women’s issues at the national level.

Interested youth can apply through the NCW’s social media platforms or via a Google form. Those selected will be invited to participate in the event in Dehradun.

The NCW believes that the insights, suggestions, and participation of youth can play a crucial role in addressing women’s issues and fostering a more inclusive and sensitive society.
