New Delhi, March 27: South Indian film superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Delhi International Film Festival (IFFD) 2026. This award recognizes his contributions to Indian cinema over more than five decades.

The ceremony took place at Bharat Mandapam, where Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the honor to Balakrishna. Numerous prominent figures from the film and cultural sectors attended the event.

Balakrishna has consistently achieved success in the Telugu film industry for 50 years, securing a strong position among audiences. The special screening of his film “Bhagwant Kesari” was also held on this occasion. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given in recognition of his dedication to the art of acting, versatility, and invaluable contributions to cinema. He expressed his happiness at attending the festival and receiving the award, proudly highlighting the screening of “Bhagwant Kesari.”

Directed by Anil Ravipudi, this film won the award for Best Film in the Telugu category at the 71st National Film Awards. Balakrishna, director Anil Ravipudi, and producer Sahu Garapati were present at the screening.

After the screening, Balakrishna appeared deeply emotional. He stated, “First and foremost, I bow to my parents. Without their blessings, I would not have reached this point. For the past 50 years, I have been climbing the ladder of success in the film industry. I can proudly say that there is no other hero in any language or industry who has achieved consistent success for 50 years.”

He referenced the legacy of his father, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, noting that his father always worked for women’s empowerment. He was instrumental in enacting laws that granted women rights to their father’s property and established Padmavati University in Tirupati.

Balakrishna affirmed that he would continue to uphold his father’s ideals. In 2025, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third-highest civilian award, for his contributions to art and cinema.
