Himachal Pradesh Government Grants License Rights for Wildflower Hall Hotel

The Himachal Pradesh government has successfully auctioned the license for Wildflower Hall Hotel, promising significant revenue for the state.

Shimla, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : The Himachal Pradesh government announced on October 30 that it has successfully completed a competitive e-auction to grant operational and management license rights for the five-star Wildflower Hall Hotel in Shimla. The auction yielded an unprecedented revenue-sharing proposal of 47.1 percent of the annual gross revenue.

This arrangement is expected to generate substantial and recurring revenue for the state’s treasury, estimated at around ₹3 crore per month, with a projected annual increase of 3 percent over the 35-year license period.

Officials estimate that the transaction could result in total revenue of approximately ₹2,000 crore during the license term, along with an upfront license fee of ₹24 crore and a minimum investment of ₹50 crore in the hotel property.

Significantly, this achievement follows the successful conclusion of a lengthy legal battle that had been ongoing for nearly 25 years. The Supreme Court‘s judicial proceedings culminated in the hotel property being returned to the government.

As a result, the state government has gained complete ownership and control over the hotel land and property, the joint venture company, related assets, and a cash sum of approximately ₹400 crore.

The successful auction, conducted through a transparent and competitive bidding process, highlights the economic potential of this prestigious property while ensuring that the state government retains full ownership of the hotel and its underlying assets.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that the state government is committed to protecting its legitimate rights and interests in all major projects and public properties. He emphasized that the successful resolution of the Wildflower Hall case after 25 years of litigation marks a significant achievement for the state.

He also reassured that the government will continue to support the legitimate interests of the state in various important projects, maintaining that there will be no compromise on the interests of the state and its people, and that each case will be pursued with determination and transparency.
