Ranchi, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Police have arrested five members of gangster Rahul Dubey’s gang following a series of shootings in Ranchi and Hazaribagh. The arrests came after gunfire erupted at a hotel in Hazaribagh and at the residence of coal trader Sanjay Karamali in Ranchi on Thursday night.
In a swift response, police formed a special team to apprehend the suspects. Reports indicated that gang members were attempting to flee the city after the shootings. Authorities set up barricades in various police jurisdictions, leading to the capture of four gang members. During questioning, they revealed the location of another accomplice in the Sithio area.
When police arrived in Sithio, the suspect opened fire upon seeing them. Despite warnings to surrender, he continued shooting, resulting in a police return fire that injured him in the leg. He was subsequently hospitalized. In total, five gang members were taken into custody.
Initial investigations suggest that this gang has been involved in extortion and instilling fear in the local community. Police have also linked them to a recent shooting incident at the Chhapra Balu Ghat in the Budhmu police area of Ranchi. Senior police officials visited the scene to assess the situation, and further inquiries are ongoing to uncover the gang’s connections and their role in recent criminal activities.
