Mumbai, 12 December: Police in Bangur Nagar, Malad, have uncovered an illegal call centre and arrested five individuals involved in selling banned medicines to foreign customers.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Ayub Sheikh (30), Faizan Bhalim (27), Farukh Sheikh (29), Moin Ahmad Sheikh (32), and Zeeshan Nasir Ansari (22). They were operating a fake call centre in the Chincholi Bandar area of Malad, Mumbai.

According to police, the accused were engaged in selling banned medicines overseas. They posed as representatives of international and American companies through foreign online pharmacies, contacting customers abroad and deceitfully selling them prohibited drugs.

Police officials stated that the suspects collected money from foreign customers by calling them and promising to send medicines. These drugs could not be legally exported, but the accused continued their illegal business.

Upon receiving information, the Mumbai Police conducted a raid and arrested the five individuals. Cases have been registered against them under various sections of the BNS and IT Acts.

The police have sent the accused to custody until 15 December and are continuing their investigation. Interrogations are underway to identify the mastermind and the duration of their operation. A team has been formed to trace and arrest their accomplices.

Police officers explained that after receiving the tip-off, they first tracked the location of the call centre. Using informants and agency support, they uncovered how the suspects contacted international customers and collected payments under the pretext of selling banned medicines. Following the investigation, the accused were arrested.
