Mumbai, August 23: Mumbai BJP President and MLA Amit Satam has made a significant request for the promising students of BMC schools. He has written to BMC Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide and Mayor Ritu Tawde, urging that these talented students be sent on study tours to ISRO, Singapore, and Japan to enhance their knowledge in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
In his letter, Satam emphasized the need for initiatives that would improve the STEM skills of BMC’s outstanding students. He proposed sending 50 students each from classes 8 and 9 on these educational trips. Specifically, he suggested that 50 students from class 8 visit the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), while 50 students from class 9 should be sent to either Singapore or Japan.
In his correspondence with Mayor Ritu Tawde and Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, Satam also mentioned plans to inaugurate the first BMC school equipped with an AI and Robotics lab in Juhu.
“I propose that BMC select 50 talented students from both classes 8 and 9 and arrange study tours to ISRO and Singapore or Japan, respectively. Adequate arrangements should be made to enhance their STEM skills, providing our gifted students with the best exposure possible,” Satam stated.
He also highlighted that budgetary provisions have been made under the ‘Teach Mumbai’ fund, which can be utilized for the proposed study tours. This initiative could serve as a significant step in connecting BMC school students with the world of science and technology.
