Gwalior, August 3: The fourth Hockey India Women’s Academy Championship 2026 was a memorable day for the Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, which clinched titles in both the sub-junior and junior categories on Monday.
In the sub-junior women’s final held in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy triumphed over Pritam Sivach Hockey Academy, Sonipat, in a thrilling match that ended 2-2 (3-1 in a shootout). Pritam Sivach Hockey Academy took the lead in the sixth minute with a goal from captain Diya, but Geetashree Nami equalized for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy in the ninth minute.
Gunjan restored Pritam Sivach’s lead in the 44th minute, but Jagriti Yadav leveled the score again in the 55th minute, sending the match into a shootout. In the shootout, Bhavika, Saroj Mansi, and Geetashree Nami scored for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, while goalkeeper Paridhi Mewada delivered an outstanding performance, securing the title with a 3-1 shootout victory.
Earlier, Raja Karan Hockey Academy claimed the bronze medal with a thrilling 4-3 win over Cheema Hockey Academy. Tanvi scored two goals in the 23rd and 36th minutes, while Riya and Diksha added goals in the 31st and 33rd minutes, respectively. Harpreet Kaur scored all three goals for Cheema Hockey Academy (12′, 19′, 39′).
In the junior women’s final, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy made a remarkable comeback to defeat Pritam Sivach Hockey Academy, Sonipat, 3-2, securing their second title of the day. Pritam Sivach Hockey Academy initially led with goals from Ritika (6′) and Manjinder (35′), but Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy responded with goals from Tanvi (41′), Naushin Naz (52′), and captain Kanak Pal (54′) to win the championship.
In the junior women’s bronze medal match, Bhai Behlo Hockey Academy, Bhakta, defeated Raja Karan Hockey Academy 0-0 (3-1 in a shootout). After a goalless regular time, Shikha, Punita, and Shweta Kumari scored in the shootout, while goalkeeper Muskaan excelled under pressure, helping Bhai Behlo Hockey Academy secure the bronze medal.
