New Delhi, February 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, responding to the President’s address. He emphasized that through the Mudra scheme, more than ₹30 lakh crore in collateral-free loans have been made available to the youth of our country. A significant portion of these loans has been availed by women. In addition to expanding women’s self-help groups, we have provided direct financial assistance to 10 crore women. Our MSME sector has also received loan support.

He confidently stated that non-performing assets (NPAs), which peaked during the UPA regime, have now reached their lowest levels. Currently, NPAs are below 1%, reflecting the strong position of our banks. Furthermore, bank profits have soared to record heights.

Modi pointed out that public sector enterprises, once on the brink of closure under Congress, are now earning record profits. Their performance is boosting the ‘Make in India’ initiative and creating unprecedented levels of employment.

Targeting opposition parties, he questioned, “How long will you deceive the world? When you look in the mirror, where will you hide your truth?” He noted that parties like Congress, TMC, DMK, and the Left have been in power for decades, both at the center and in states, yet their legacy is one of self-enrichment rather than improving citizens’ lives.

He remarked that discussions about deals today evoke pride, unlike the past when the Bofors deal was a topic of contention.

Modi assured that we have ensured that young and talented officials are given three full years to contribute to regional development. Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district, once declared an aspirational district, is now in the spotlight for hosting the Bastar Olympics. Some villages have received bus services for the first time, marking significant progress in connectivity and development. This example clearly illustrates what real implementation can achieve in aspirational districts.
