
Beijing, June 20: The 32nd Beijing International Book Fair recently hosted the Beijing International Publishing Forum 2026, centered on the theme “Building the Future of Publishing Together.”
Experts and scholars from China and abroad discussed various topics, including “A New Chapter for Nationwide Reading,” “Chinese Expression and Global Dialogue in Philosophy and Social Sciences,” and “AI-Driven Systemic Changes in the Publishing Industry.”
They collaboratively explored the opportunities and challenges facing the global publishing industry and envisioned a new future of mutually beneficial cooperation in publishing.
Currently, a technological revolution focused on generative artificial intelligence is driving the publishing industry toward a complete process restructuring, full empowerment of elements, and comprehensive format upgrades. Participating experts emphasized that the publishing industry should actively shape its future rather than passively adapt. They advocated for the proactive adoption of technology, promoting talent development, strengthening copyright protection, improving copyright governance in the AI era, and continuously deepening international exchange and cooperation to create an open ecosystem.
They called for the entire industry to work together in the AI era to establish industry standards and data standards, ensuring the protection of publishing rights, so that the publishing sector remains vibrant and relevant amidst the AI wave.
