New Delhi, February 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie held an important meeting on Monday. PM Modi emphasized the significance of this meeting for bilateral relations, declaring Seychelles a crucial part of India’s ‘Ocean Vision.’
On social media platform X, PM Modi shared photos from the meeting, stating, “A successful meeting with Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie this morning. His visit coincides with Seychelles celebrating its 50th year of independence and the 50th anniversary of India-Seychelles relations. Our countries are connected by a shared vision for history and the future. As a maritime neighbor and trusted partner, Seychelles is an essential part of India’s Ocean Vision.”
During the meeting, both leaders engaged in a comprehensive and meaningful discussion encompassing the full spectrum of bilateral relations. PM Modi congratulated President Herminie on the upcoming elections in October 2025.
They acknowledged that the Seychelles-India relationship is people-centric and strengthens security and stability in the Western Indian Ocean region. The leaders reiterated Seychelles’ role as a vital pillar in India’s Ocean Vision.

Reaffirming their commitment to expanding and strengthening the people-centered development partnership, India announced a ‘Special Economic Package’ of $175 million.
This package aims to enhance cooperation in areas such as housing, health, defense, e-mobility, and maritime security. Both leaders addressed a joint press conference, where PM Modi stated that the India-Seychelles relationship is not only diplomatic but also historical and cultural.
