New Delhi, August 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations for India’s 80th Independence Day at the historic Red Fort on Saturday. This marks his 13th consecutive address from this iconic site, setting a new record among non-Congress Prime Ministers.
After hoisting the national flag, Prime Minister Modi delivered his speech, continuing a tradition he has upheld since taking office in 2014. His ongoing commitment to this event has made him the most successful non-Congress Prime Minister to deliver Independence Day speeches from the Red Fort.
This year’s celebrations particularly highlighted the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram.” The event also showcased the energy, hopes, and contributions of India’s youth towards building a “developed India” by 2047.
Following the Prime Minister’s arrival at the Red Fort, the national flag was raised, accompanied by a 21-gun salute. The ceremony featured a shower of flowers from helicopters, adding to the festive atmosphere.
