Missile Equation Will Determine the Future of War Between Iran, Israel, and the U.S.: GD Bakshi

New Delhi, March 20: Amid rising inflation, an energy crisis, and geopolitical instability, the ongoing tensions in the Middle East now hinge on the ‘missile equation.’

Retired Major General GD Bakshi discussed the strategies of Iran, Israel, and the United States concerning the complex situation in the Middle East. He emphasized that the duration and direction of the conflict depend on this ‘missile equation.’

Bakshi explained that the ‘missile equation’ refers to the number of missiles and interceptors each side possesses, their remaining striking capabilities, and which side will tire first. This will ultimately determine how long the confrontation lasts.

How many missiles and interceptors do Israel and the U.S. have, and what is Iran’s arsenal like? Which side will exhaust its resources first?

Bakshi noted that when resources are on the brink of depletion, negotiations or a ceasefire may occur. Additionally, one might shift from using high-capacity weapons to engaging in lower-capacity warfare. For months, one or two missiles may continue to be launched, along with 10-15 drones operating over an extended period.

He stated that the U.S. dream of Iran surrendering and a regime change occurring is unlikely to materialize.

Bakshi further remarked that the U.S. had predicted that everything would end in two days, but that has not happened. On the first day, the U.S. targeted Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, followed by 48 top commanders. The expectation was that Iran would collapse, yet it remains aggressively active.

The challenge for the U.S. is that Iran has adapted. It has found a workaround through a mosaic of command and control centers and delegation. Iran has instructed its forces, “Do not wait for orders; attack and kill wherever you find an opportunity. Even if we all perish, continue to fight.”

Just half an hour after the Supreme Leader’s death, Iran launched an attack, which continues to this day, effectively closing the Strait of Hormuz. Chaos ensues.

Iran was aware that it could not win the war, but it chose to fight, stating, “If we sink, we will take you down with us.”
