Mumbai, March 8: MG is gearing up to launch its new electric SUV, named IM6, in India. The company plans to unveil the IM6 SUV in October this year. This new electric vehicle (EV) will compete with models like the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6.
MG’s IM6 is expected to be priced around ₹60 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be available through select outlets as a fully imported product.
Impressive Range of 555 km
The top-end version of the IM6 features an 800V electrical architecture, enabling DC fast charging capabilities of up to 396kW. MG claims that its 100kWh battery can charge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes. The battery will be available in two configurations: 408hp power with 500Nm torque (rear-wheel drive) and 778hp power with 802Nm torque (all-wheel drive). According to MG, the rear-wheel drive variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, while the all-wheel drive variant achieves this in just 3.4 seconds. The WLTP-rated range for the RWD version is 555 km, while the AWD version offers a range of 505 km. However, it remains unclear which configurations MG will offer in India.
