New Delhi, March 19: Congress MP Manoj Kumar has responded to Assam MP Pradyut Bordoloi’s resignation from the Congress party and the subsequent questions raised about the party’s leadership. He stated that disagreements and conflicts exist in every party, but that does not justify leaving for a party that opposes the very ideology they all fight for. Kumar asserted that Bordoloi made a mistake by leaving the Congress.
In an interview in New Delhi, Kumar emphasized that when someone departs from a party, they often raise various questions about their former organization. “However, I want to make it clear that if someone claims they do not meet with Rahul Gandhi, that is completely false. We meet him regularly in the House and share our views,” he said.
Kumar mentioned that a meeting with all MPs had taken place before the first phase of the budget session. “Bordoloi chose to run away, and after leaving, he makes all sorts of accusations. But I believe he has made a mistake by leaving the Congress,” he added.
He further speculated that Bordoloi might have been influenced by external factors, suggesting, “He may have sold out. The BJP has everything. Bordoloi himself is questionable and is raising doubts about our leadership. Does the party he has joined not have its own conflicts? One day he might leave the BJP claiming he cannot meet Prime Minister Modi, and thus joins another party.”
Kumar also criticized BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s remarks about Rahul Gandhi, calling them unfortunate. “I want to tell Prime Minister Modi that while you speak of decorum and rules in the House, your own MPs make such statements,” he remarked.
He added, “If Kangana wants to make statements for TRP, she can continue. But the BJP should understand that making such allegations against the opposition leader is unfortunate for the country. Millions of women regard Rahul Gandhi as a son and brother. During the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ we received blessings from mothers and sisters. Our party respects women.”
Kumar concluded that Ranaut should not have made such comments. “If the BJP is orchestrating these statements, it is wrong. The public is the true owner here, and the entire country is watching Kangana’s remarks. No matter how many statements are made against Rahul Gandhi, he will continue to be the voice of mothers and sisters. We will keep raising our voices to protect the Constitution and democracy, and we will continue to fight as his soldiers.”
Regarding Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s comments, Kumar stated that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had held the government accountable for the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader. “I won’t say much about Tharoor’s statement. India is not involved in the ongoing war. Why should we participate? However, the question remains that we had relations with Iran, and the Supreme Leader was assassinated, yet we do not even express our condolences. Our foreign policy is gradually weakening. A strong foreign policy is essential for us to become a global leader.”
