Manipur Launches 13 Mobile Medical Units to Enhance Healthcare in Hilly Regions

Imphal, June 9: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced on Tuesday that the government is committed to providing quality healthcare services by ensuring skilled human resources, modern infrastructure, and advanced medical technology in both the Imphal Valley and hilly areas.

While flagging off 13 mobile medical units from the Health Services Directorate in Lamphal for deployment in hilly districts, the Chief Minister emphasized that these facilities will play a crucial role in delivering essential health services to people living in remote and underserved areas.

In a post on his Facebook account, he stated that these mobile medical units will strengthen healthcare delivery in low-resource and remote hilly districts, ensuring that quality medical services reach every citizen’s doorstep. This initiative reflects the government’s firm commitment to improving public health, increasing access to healthcare, and building a healthy, robust, and disease-free Manipur.

The 13 mobile medical units have been launched under the ‘Prime Minister’s Tribal Justice Campaign’ and the ‘Earth Aba Tribal Village Upliftment Campaign,’ aiming to provide health services to tribal and marginalized populations.

A senior official from the Health and Family Welfare Department revealed that these mobile medical units will offer various healthcare services, including general outpatient consultations, basic diagnostic facilities, distribution of essential medicines, and maternal and child healthcare services. They will also conduct screenings for non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, provide oral healthcare services, organize health education and awareness programs, and offer referral services for specialized treatment when necessary.

The event was attended by Sumanth Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. N. Hemantkumar Singh, Director of Health Services, Dr. M. Dinesh Singh, State Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Manipur, and other senior officials from the Health Services Directorate.
