New Delhi, May 10: Former West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee extended her congratulations to TVK leader Vijay on his swearing-in as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. She expressed confidence that under Vijay’s leadership, the state’s development journey will continue to progress.
In a post on the social media platform X, Banerjee wrote, “I congratulate ‘Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam’ (TVK) on their remarkable victory in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. I also wish Vijay the best as he takes the oath as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.”
She further noted that this mandate reflects the aspirations, trust, and democratic will of the people of Tamil Nadu. “I am fully confident that under his leadership, Tamil Nadu will continue its journey towards progress, public welfare, and inclusive development. I wish him and his government success in serving the people with dedication and commitment.”
It is noteworthy that Vijay took the oath of office at a grand ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath. The event was attended by several national and regional leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, film personalities, party workers, and thousands of supporters.
After taking the oath, Vijay stated, “I have been entrusted with this significant responsibility, and I hope to have some time to fulfill my promises. Your cooperation and patience will be essential.”
He emphasized that ensuring women’s safety will remain a top priority. “From today, I will take all necessary steps to control drug culture. Likewise, I will work to improve law and order in the state. To those who have troubled or disrespected me, I consider all 80 million people of Tamil Nadu as my own. My primary focus will be to enhance basic facilities such as education, health, roads, and drinking water.”
