
Thiruvananthapuram, May 5: Renowned Malayalam actor Santhosh Nair tragically passed away on Tuesday following a road accident. He was 65 years old. Actor Mohanlal expressed his sorrow over the loss of his close friend.
The accident occurred around 6:30 AM near Enathu in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. Santhosh was traveling with his wife, Shubhashree, when their car lost control and collided with a parcel truck.
They were rushed to a nearby hospital, but Santhosh suffered a heart attack during treatment and was pronounced dead. Both his wife and the truck driver sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical care.
Mohanlal, a superstar in the Malayalam film industry and a dear friend of Santhosh, was visibly affected by the news. He took to Facebook to share his grief, stating, “I received very sad news this morning. My dear Santhosh, who was very close to me, passed away in a car accident.”
He continued, “Santhosh was my junior in college. Since then, he was a good friend and like a brother to me. We worked together in several films. He was a special person, dedicated to his craft, and had a kind heart that everyone loved. His sudden and untimely departure will be deeply felt. My heartfelt condolences to him and his family.”
The friendship between Santhosh Nair and Mohanlal began at MG College in Thiruvananthapuram, where Santhosh was a junior and actively served as the editor of the college magazine. They shared many memorable moments during their student life.
Looking back at Santhosh Nair’s film career, he made his acting debut in 1982 with the film “Ithu Nangalude Katha.” He appeared in over 100 films, gaining popularity in villainous, comedic, and character roles. His performance in the film “Irupatham Noottandu” is particularly remembered.
In the late 1990s, he took a brief hiatus from films but later made a comeback and remained active. His last film was “Mohiniyattam.”
Born on November 12, 1960, in Thiruvananthapuram, Santhosh was also active in student politics. He was well-known for his friendships and vibrant personality both inside and outside the film industry.
