Major Reshuffle in Maharashtra Police: Vishwas Nangre Patil Appointed as New Police Commissioner of Nagpur

Mumbai, June 23: The Maharashtra government has initiated a significant administrative reshuffle within the police department, resulting in the transfer of several senior IPS officers. As part of this reorganization, Vishwas Nangre Patil, the Additional Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Nagpur.

Vishwas Nangre Patil is one of the prominent figures in the Maharashtra Police, known for his strict policing methods in Mumbai and across the state. His approach has often earned him the reputation of being a ‘Singham’ officer. With the responsibility of overseeing a crucial city like Nagpur, all eyes will be on his performance.

The government has transferred the current Police Commissioner of Nagpur, Sanjay Verma, to the position of Director General of the Police Housing and Welfare Corporation. Additionally, senior IPS officer Archana Tyagi has also been reassigned. Known for her distinct presence among female officers, Archana Tyagi has been appointed as the Director General of Judicial and Technical Police. Previously, she served as the Director General of the Police Housing and Welfare Corporation.

Furthermore, Dattatray Shinde has been moved to the position of Inspector General of Police in the State Crime Investigation Department (CID). Sanjay Shintre has been appointed as the Additional Police Commissioner in the Mira-Bhayander-Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate.

The list of transfers includes several other officers as well. Prashant Mohite has been transferred from the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Deputy Commissioner of Police for Dial-112 in Navi Mumbai. Nilesh Rohen has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police for Nanded, moving from his previous role as Superintendent of Police in Hingoli.

Abhinash Kumar, formerly the Superintendent of Police in Nanded, has been designated as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Pune. Meanwhile, Shrimant Lad has been reassigned from the position of Additional Superintendent of Police in Khamgaon, Buldhana, to the Superintendent of Police in Hingoli.

Rupali Ambure has been moved from Dial-112 in Navi Mumbai to the position of Superintendent of Police in the Maharashtra State Security Corporation. Shashikant Satav has been transferred from Deputy Commissioner of Police in Nagpur to Deputy Commissioner of Police in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Ramesh Dhumal has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Nagpur, moving from his previous role in Amravati. Piyush Jagatap has been reassigned from the Commander position of the State Reserve Police Force Group No. 17 in Chandrapur to Additional Superintendent of Police in Khamgaon, Buldhana.

This major reshuffle by the state government is seen as a step towards establishing new responsibilities and improving coordination within the police administration. There are high expectations for the newly appointed officials to strengthen law and order and expedite administrative processes.
