Muzaffarpur, August 14: Ahead of Independence Day, Muzaffarpur police launched a significant operation targeting criminals, fugitives, and wanted suspects across the district.
Following directives from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), police teams conducted raids and checks in various police station areas, resulting in the arrest of 342 individuals, with 190 sent to judicial custody.
City SP Mohibullah Ansari provided details of the operation during a press conference at the police lines. He stated that the aim of this initiative was to strengthen crime control, apprehend wanted individuals, and maintain law and order before the national holiday.
According to police data, the East-1 sub-division recorded the highest number of arrests, with 72 individuals detained, 43 of whom were sent to judicial custody. Additionally, 40 arrests were made in the Town-1 and Town-2 sub-division areas.
As part of the operation, the SSP conducted surprise inspections at the Brahmapura and Sakra police stations. He reviewed the operations of these stations and instructed officials and personnel to remain vigilant against criminal activities and maintain continuous surveillance.
Police officials are now reviewing the criminal records of those arrested to determine how many are wanted in old cases and how many are linked to newly registered offenses.
During the operation, several items were recovered in areas including the jurisdiction of the Ahiyapur police station. Details regarding the recovered items will be released separately.
SP Mohibullah Ansari emphasized that the campaign against criminals and fugitives will continue. Security checks and monitoring have also been intensified in Muzaffarpur in preparation for Independence Day.
Earlier, Bihar’s DGP Vinay Kumar took a firm stance on the rising threat of cybercrime in the state. He warned that strict action would be taken against individuals using the same identification to acquire more SIM cards than permitted.
He also stated that legal action would be pursued against those involved in creating fake Aadhaar cards. According to him, over 7,000 FIRs related to cybercrime have been registered in Bihar, while police and other agencies are actively working against the networks of cybercriminals.
