New Delhi, May 1: The Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) reported a significant operation on March 28, following intelligence that a man named Manoj, also known as Manish, was illegally trafficking drugs under the guise of a chemist shop. Upon receiving this information, the AATS team sprang into action and successfully dismantled the operation.
According to AATS, Manoj was accused of selling banned pharmaceutical drugs from his shop located in Nilothi (Chander Vihar) and supplying these restricted substances to individuals addicted to narcotics. A dedicated team was formed, and the drug enforcement department was also notified.
In a joint operation between AATS and the drug enforcement department, Manoj was apprehended. The team seized 50 bottles of codeine syrup (commercial quantity), 499 capsules of tramadol, 400 tablets (commercial quantity), and 240 capsules of alprazolam from the chemist’s shop.
AATS revealed that the prohibited items were concealed inside a covered transparent plastic container within the shop. The batch numbers and expiry dates on all the medications were found to be erased. All seized items have been sealed in accordance with legal protocols.
A case has been registered against the accused at Nihal Vihar police station under Section 18 of the NDPS and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. The accused has been arrested, and all banned items have been confiscated. Further investigations are ongoing.
