New Delhi, June 18: The Union Budget 2026 has introduced significant policy reforms for the express courier sector, as discussed at a special event attended by industry leaders, customs officials, and trade experts in the national capital.
During the event, Ajay Sahai, Director General and CEO of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), highlighted crucial changes in courier import-export regulations. Previously, a value limit of ₹1 million applied to exports via e-commerce and courier services. However, the government has now removed this cap.
Sahai stated that this decision will greatly benefit Indian exporters, particularly those dealing in high-value products. It will enhance the reach of Indian goods in global markets.
Vijay Kumar, CEO of EICI, emphasized that the primary goal of the announced reforms is to simplify business operations. He noted that eliminating the limit on high-value product exports will facilitate larger shipments through courier services.
Additionally, the process for returning rejected shipments to their origin has been streamlined. Experts believe these reforms will reduce several challenges faced by the business community and invigorate export activities.
Yogendra Garg, a member of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), mentioned that the government is continuously working to improve the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ across various sectors. He pointed out that the express and courier industry has faced significant challenges, including value limits and the lack of return-to-origin facilities.
The government has implemented necessary reforms to eliminate these barriers, making the courier and express logistics industry faster, simpler, and more competitive.
Commissioner of Air Cargo in Delhi, Yogendra Singh, added that this year’s Union Budget has introduced several corrective measures for the trade and logistics sector. The event aimed to inform the industry about these changes, which are expected to make business processes more straightforward and effective.
Experts believe that the reforms in Budget 2026 will be pivotal for Indian exporters, e-commerce companies, and the logistics sector. The removal of value limits and the simplification of processes will enhance the global market reach of Indian products, while improved ease of doing business will provide a new impetus to the country’s exports.
