Patna, August 1: In a significant crackdown on the alleged paper leak of the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission’s recruitment exam for the Home Guard, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has arrested three individuals. The arrested include Raj Samdarshi, also known as Raja, Abhishek Kumar, and biometric supervisor Nitesh Kumar. Following their presentation in court, they have been remanded to judicial custody. Investigations into the involvement of other suspects and the broader network are ongoing.
According to a press release from the EOU, a case was registered on July 30 under sections 10 and 11(1) of the Bihar Public Examination (Unfair Means Prevention) Act, 2024. This case pertains to the leak of the question paper for the recruitment exam and the use of unfair means during the examination.
The arrested individuals are residents of various districts: Raj Samdarshi hails from Karsa in the Vikram police station area of Patna, Abhishek Kumar is from Sedpur Rajouli in the Sadar police station area of Vaishali, and Nitesh Kumar is from Katra in the Nagar police station area of Vaishali. Nitesh Kumar was working as a biometric supervisor during the exam. The press release noted that information gathered during the investigation of another case registered at the Nagar police station in Hajipur indicated that Raj Samdarshi was set to participate in the exam at the Hajipur center. He was subsequently apprehended near the examination venue.
During interrogation, he admitted to using unfair means in the exam and named Abhishek Kumar as his accomplice. He also confessed to employing unfair methods in the AEDO exam held in April 2026. The investigation revealed that answers to the exam questions were being relayed to Raj Samdarshi through biometric supervisor Nitesh Kumar. A review of the mobile phones of Raj Samdarshi and Abhishek Kumar uncovered exam-related admit cards, answer sheets, and other documents.
Digital evidence from their mobile galleries indicated that an answer sheet was sent during the exam at 12:21 PM. Based on this evidence, the EOU arrested the three suspects and presented them in court, where they were remanded to judicial custody. The agency has emphasized that it will continue to take stringent action against gangs involved in leaking question papers and individuals profiting from these illegal activities.
The EOU has stated that a thorough investigation into other aspects of the case is underway. The identification of additional individuals involved in this network, verification of their roles, and necessary legal actions are also in progress.
