Mumbai, April 13: Pratul Shah Dev, spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has leveled serious accusations against the state government regarding an alleged treasury scam in Jharkhand. He claims that one of the largest scams in the state is about to be unveiled, linked to a significant looting of government funds.
Speaking to a news agency, Shah Dev stated, “Preliminary investigations reveal that government money has been withdrawn through fake travel allowances (TA), dearness allowances (DA), and fictitious salaries.”
He alleged that the funds were withdrawn under the names of police personnel by the Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO), with the scam potentially amounting to several hundred crores. Initial investigations have already estimated the figure to be between 30 to 35 crores.
Shah Dev further claimed that the involvement of senior police officials from various districts is also under investigation. This is a vast and extensive scam, with suspicions that money has been transferred to other states from multiple accounts. According to him, the scope of the investigation is continuously expanding, and significant revelations may emerge soon.
The BJP spokesperson also criticized the government regarding recent paper leak incidents in the state. He pointed out that Jharkhand has witnessed a series of paper leaks, yet the government is evading acknowledgment. “The youth are being deceived, and the government must answer for this,” he asserted.
He mentioned a recent incident where 160 candidates were caught in an under-construction building in a remote area during an examination, after which the administration denied any paper leak.
Shah Dev questioned the Jharkhand police’s investigative process, stating that concluding a lack of paper leak within just a few hours without a thorough investigation is inappropriate. He sarcastically remarked that the state police is surpassing international agencies in investigative matters, which is a serious concern.
