Ashwini Vaishnav Accuses Congress of Opposing Womens Empowerment

New Delhi, April 18: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav criticized Congress and its allies on Friday, alleging that they have opposed women’s empowerment.

In a post on the social media platform X, he stated that Congress has revealed its true colors regarding this issue. He wrote, “Congress and its allies have shown their real face; Congress opposes women’s empowerment.”

This statement comes at a time when political tensions have escalated in Parliament over the issue of women’s reservation and related legislative developments.

A heated debate is ongoing between the ruling NDA and opposition parties regarding the proposal for 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The government argues that this move aims to enhance women’s participation, while opposition parties have raised questions about its implementation and timing.

Vaishnav’s remarks have intensified the ongoing political tug-of-war, with women’s political representation at the forefront.

Previously, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also criticized Congress during discussions on bills in the Lok Sabha, stating that the party would face the anger of the nation’s women for not supporting women’s reservation.

During the discussion, Shah claimed that Congress’s proposals aimed to delay women’s reservation until after 2029. He described this as an attempt to stall the process, asserting that the government would not allow it to fail.

He warned opposition members that women across the country are closely monitoring this situation. He stated, “When you go outside, you will understand the reactions of the mothers and sisters of the nation, and voters will demand answers.”

Shah further emphasized that while Congress focuses on electoral gains, the government’s priority is to ensure representation and participation.
