New Delhi, April 18: The rejection of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha has led BJP leaders to launch a fierce attack on the opposition. They have accused Congress of betraying women.
Union Minister Prahlad Joshi stated, “Today, the entire nation witnessed who supports 33% women’s reservation and who opposes it. It is now completely clear that Congress and the India alliance are against women’s rights.”
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized, “We will go to the public. The Congress party’s anti-women stance and its attempts to mislead the people will be presented to the public.”
Union Minister Chirag Paswan remarked, “There is no need for us to protest. Half the population will protest on its own. This has been delayed for decades.”
BJP MP Ravi Kishan accused the opposition of harboring hatred towards women, saying, “You will see in the elections that women will respond to them. This Congress party is anti-women, and it has shown how much hatred it has for women.”
BJP MP Arun Govil stated that Amit Shah had explained every aspect of the bill clearly, but the opposition had already planned to ensure its failure. He added, “There is no question of lying. The opposition had a plan in place.”
BJP MP Dhaval Patel noted, “Today, a historic bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha by the Mogi government, especially for women’s empowerment, but the entire India alliance opposed it.”
Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized Congress, saying, “This was a clear opposition from the Congress party. They completely opposed women’s awareness, empowerment, and dignity. Today, under the Prime Minister’s leadership, women are advancing in every field. This was a historic opportunity, and the deliberate obstruction was unfortunate.”
TDP MP Bayareddy Shabari expressed disappointment, stating, “It is very disappointing that this bill could not pass, but everyone should understand that the Congress party and others are against women’s reservation or delimitation. We saw Rahul Gandhi address the Prime Minister as a ‘magician’ today.”
Former Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe remarked, “This is a very sad issue. It is not surprising, as most of these parties are slaves to a male-dominated mindset. Many of these parties operate on dynastic politics.”
Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma accused Congress of dishonesty, saying, “If we say this bill has fallen, it would be an insult to our country’s women. This is Congress’s dishonesty. How can anyone be satisfied with this? You are not even giving half reservation to half the population.”
BJP MP Tejasvi Surya called it a tragic day for democracy, stating, “This is a very sad moment. Today is a very unfortunate day for India’s democracy. The Congress party opposed a historic opportunity that could have granted rights and representation to half the population, women, the maternal power.”
BJP leaders assert that the opposition has squandered a golden opportunity to advance women’s reservation. They claim that women will surely respond to this betrayal in the upcoming elections.
