
Mumbai, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other prominent leaders, extended their greetings to the people of Maharashtra on the occasion of Marathi Classical Language Day, celebrated on October 3.
In a post on X, Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed pride in the recognition of Marathi, stating, “Celebrating ‘Marathi Classical Language Day’ honors Maharashtra’s pride and identity! On October 3, 2024, Marathi was officially designated as a ‘classical language.’ I extend heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries who contributed to this honor for our beloved Marathi language!”
Deputy Chief Minister Shinde also took to X, saying, “Warm wishes to all Marathi people on Classical Marathi Language Day. Under the leadership of our beloved Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet made a historic decision on October 3, 2024, granting Marathi the status of a ‘classical language.’ This is a true recognition for Marathi. Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to achieve this honor. On this day, I congratulate all Marathi speakers who proudly carry forward the rich tradition of Marathi.”
Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), shared his thoughts on X, noting, “The Marathi language, which has enriched literature, saint traditions, folk culture, and intellectual thought for centuries, received the official designation of ‘classical’ today. The central government’s decision on October 3, 2024, is a testament to Marathi’s long literary and cultural heritage. Sunetra Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister, expressed her pride in a post, saying, “Marathi is our mother tongue. Ravindra Chavhan, the state president of the BJP in Maharashtra, shared his greetings on X, stating, “Warm wishes to everyone on Marathi Classical Language Day! This is a proud day for every Marathi individual. On this day, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Union Cabinet made the historic decision to grant Marathi ‘classical language’ status. Let us all commit to preserving and promoting the Marathi language!”
Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection, also posted, “On the occasion of ‘Marathi Abhijaat Language Pride Day,’ I extend hearty wishes to all lovers of the Marathi language!
