Murshidabad, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Humayun Kabir, President of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party and local MLA, addressed several political and community issues in Murshidabad on October 2. He focused on the development of Rejingar, the proposed removal of a mosque from the airport premises, and the political role of Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Kabir stated that developing the eight assembly constituencies as a model electoral area would benefit the local populace. He expressed his intention to bypass local political disputes and engage directly with central leadership in Delhi. He plans to meet with key ministers, including Nitin Naveen, to address these concerns.
He noted ongoing disagreements at the local level, particularly involving Sumik Babu and other parties. Instead of getting entangled in these conflicts, Kabir prefers to communicate directly with central leaders.
On the mosque issue, Kabir raised serious allegations, claiming that the BJP government at both the central and state levels is attempting to remove the mosque. He warned that this initiative could advance sooner rather than later, suggesting that an interim order could have halted any removal actions. He criticized the officials’ attitude, indicating a firm stance on the mosque’s removal.
When asked about Congress and Adhir Chowdhury, Kabir refrained from extensive commentary. He acknowledged Chowdhury’s long-standing opposition to Mamata Banerjee since the formation of the Trinamool Congress in 1998. Kabir pointed out that while Banerjee’s party has maintained power in West Bengal for years, Congress is facing significant political challenges with the 2026 assembly elections approaching. He remarked on the weakening political position of Congress and its struggle for direction, recalling Chowdhury’s past criticisms of Rahul Gandhi and his outreach to Sonia Gandhi.
