Mumbai, July 15: Shaina NC, the national spokesperson for Shiv Sena, commented on the Maharashtra government’s decision to waive ₹48,000 crore in outstanding electricity bills for farmers. She emphasized that the Mahayuti government is committed to farmers’ interests and that issues related to development should be viewed from a public welfare perspective rather than a political one.
Shaina NC responded to opposition claims that the waiver is an election ploy, stating that this decision was not made with elections in mind. It is a result of long-standing demands from farmers and reflects the government’s commitment to their welfare. Various farmers’ organizations have consistently called for relief from electricity bills. The Mahayuti government is sensitive to farmers’ issues and has taken this decision after careful consideration.
She clarified that eligibility criteria for the scheme will be established, and the government will implement the process transparently. This promise to farmers has been part of the government’s priorities and should not be viewed solely in the context of elections.
Regarding the final draft of the delimitation bill, Shaina NC stated that delimitation is a necessary democratic process. It is essential to redefine constituencies based on population changes from the census to ensure balanced representation across the country. She urged Supriya Sule of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) to approach the topic positively when it comes up for discussion in Parliament, supporting the goal of equal representation nationwide.
On the speculation surrounding the meeting between senior NCP leader Jayant Patil and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shaina NC remarked that such meetings are a normal part of the democratic process. Jayant Patil, an experienced leader and former minister, has previously met with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on various issues. Therefore, their meeting should be viewed in the context of development and public interest rather than through a political lens.
Responding to criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve regarding Chief Minister Fadnavis’s comments on the Ram Raksha Stotra, Shaina NC stated that faith should not be subjected to verbal scrutiny. Millions of Indians have contributed to the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple with devotion, without seeking personal credit. Charity is a matter of faith and should not be politicized.
She also targeted Shiv Sena (UBT), reminding them of Balasaheb Thackeray’s views on the Ram temple movement and Hindutva. The grand Ram temple in Ayodhya is a result of the faith, belief, and years of efforts of millions, and this issue should be respected rather than politicized.
