Maharashtra Aims to Provide Affordable Healthcare Within 5-8 Kilometers for All Citizens

Mumbai, March 28: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Friday that the government’s goal is to ensure affordable and quality healthcare for every citizen within a 5-8 kilometer radius of their homes.

He stated that the state is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance tuberculosis control, maternal and child health, and primary healthcare services.

During his inaugural speech at the ‘PULSE – Integrated Education, Skills, Health, and Learning Platform’ conference, the Chief Minister highlighted that the government is implementing a three-tier model for cancer treatment. This model focuses on diagnosis at the district level, treatment at the regional level, and advanced care at top centers.

Fadnavis mentioned that quality healthcare is reaching rural areas through platforms like telemedicine and e-Sanjeevani. A proposal is under consideration to establish the Indian Institute of Public Health in Nagpur, which will be crucial for public health, research, and strategic planning.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence in Maharashtra’s immense potential to become a global hub for medical wellness tourism. In line with the vision of ‘Developed Maharashtra 2047’, the health sector will become a vital center for social responsibility, investment, innovation, and economic growth.

He assured that Maharashtra will not just wait for the future of healthcare but will actively shape it and set new standards.

Fadnavis stated that the ‘PULSE’ conference will determine the direction of Maharashtra’s health system for the next decade. This initiative aims to integrate quality, uniformity, and affordability in healthcare and medical education.

He expressed hope that the experts participating in the conference will bring about a transformative change in the health sector, not only in Maharashtra but also at the national and global levels. Change in the health sector is no longer an option but a necessity.

Public Health State Minister Madhuri Misal emphasized the significance of the conference, which will discuss digital health, artificial intelligence (AI), improvements in medical education, skill development, research and innovation, and strengthening rural and public health systems.

To achieve the state’s overall development and the goals of ‘Developed Maharashtra 2047’, it is essential to strengthen and technology-enable the rural healthcare system. This conference will play a crucial role in that mission.

She further stated that this initiative will provide an integrated platform for healthcare services, medical education, research, the pharmaceutical industry, startups, and wellness tourism.
