Alwar’s Baroda Mew town is witnessing an unusual and surprising event as two life sentence convicts, Priya Seth and Hanuman Prasad, are getting married today. Both were convicted in separate brutal murder cases and were serving sentences in the Sanganer open jail in Jaipur.
Following the Rajasthan High Court’s directive, they have been granted a special 15-day parole period during which the wedding is taking place. The marriage ceremony is being held at Hanuman Prasad’s ancestral home in Holi Chowk locality of Baroda Mew.
Priya Seth’s Case and Background
Priya Seth, originally from Pali district, was found guilty in the 2018 Jaipur Tinder murder case. Born into an educated family, her grandfather was a principal, her father a college lecturer, and her mother a government school teacher. She secured good marks and was sent to Jaipur for studies. However, she fell into bad company and took a wrong path. To support costly habits, she began trapping young men through dating apps. During this period, she met Dikshant Kamra from Sri Ganganagar, a model based in Mumbai, and they started living together in Jaipur.
Pretending to be a wealthy Delhi girl, Priya lured Dushyant Sharma through a dating app. On 2 May 2018, she called him to a flat where Dikshant and his friend Lakshya Walia were already present. They held Dushyant hostage and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from his father. After receiving Rs 3 lakh, fearing arrest, the three strangled Dushyant to death. They mutilated his face and placed the body in a suitcase, which was later dumped in the Amer hills. The police recovered the body on 3 May and arrested the trio on 4 May. On 24 May 2024, the Jaipur court sentenced them to life imprisonment.
Hanuman Prasad’s Case and Background
Hanuman Prasad, also known as Jack, was convicted for the murder of Banwari Lal and his four children on 2 October 2017 in Shivaji Park, Alwar. Banwari Lal was the husband of Santosh Sharma, with whom Hanuman had an affair. Together, they drugged Banwari Lal with sleeping pills, then slit his throat. At that time, Hanuman was preparing to become a physical education teacher. After the murder, he fled to Udaipur but was arrested two days later. The investigation revealed that Santosh was ten years older than Hanuman. Despite this, their love was intense, and they planned to marry after eliminating her family. Both were sentenced to life imprisonment by the court.
From Prison Bond to Marriage
The couple met in the open jail where their relationship grew stronger. Reports say they had been living together for the past six months. Priya is 33 years old, and Hanuman is 32. Wedding cards have been printed, and the ceremony is set to last three days. This event has sparked widespread discussion, as two convicts involved in separate heinous crimes are beginning a life together. The parole committee, acting on the High Court’s order, granted permission for the marriage. Some lawyers representing the victims’ families have expressed intentions to challenge the parole in the High Court.
This case has ignited fresh debates on prisoner relationships, parole regulations, and societal reactions.
