
New Delhi, May 27: On the death anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties paid their respects. They remembered Nehru as the architect of modern India, a guardian of democracy, and a symbol of scientific thinking.
In a post on the social media platform X, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, expressed, “On the death anniversary of the great freedom fighter and the first Prime Minister of the country, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, I offer my humble tribute. The foundation Nehru laid for India’s comprehensive development remains unparalleled in the world today. His greatest contribution was the establishment of democracy and the expansion of democratic institutions in India. He dedicated his entire life to eliminating inequality and making India self-reliant. His legacy will remain immortal for ages.”
Umang Singhar, the Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, remarked, “On the death anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the symbol of nation-building, progress, and unity, I bow in reverence. Your contributions to the creation of modern India, your unwavering faith in democratic values, and your visionary approach to empowering education and institutions will always inspire us. On this day, we pledge to follow your ideals.”
Randeep Singh Surjewala quoted Nehru, stating, “You cannot change the facts of history by changing the pictures on the wall,” and paid homage to him on his death anniversary.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Singh remembered Nehru, saying, “I offer my humble tribute to the first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who made unparalleled contributions from the freedom struggle to the construction of modern India. His contributions will always be remembered as we build a stronger India.”
Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav and a leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, wrote, “On the death anniversary of one of the great leaders of the freedom struggle, an excellent thinker, a remarkable writer, and the visionary who laid the strong foundation for modern India, I pay my heartfelt tribute to Bharat Ratna Jawaharlal Nehru.”
Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, stated, “I respectfully bow and offer my humble tribute to the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on his death anniversary.”
The Arunachal Pradesh BJP shared on their official X handle, “We pay our respectful homage to Bharat Ratna Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary. The nation will always remember his service and contributions.”
